Candidates for Congress are often judged primarily not on how good a job they would do as Members of Congress, and not even on how convincing and effective they are as candidates, but on how much money their campaigns have raised.  To be taken seriously a campaign must raise hundreds of thousands of dollars, preferably in the early months of the campaign.

This may not be too difficult for an incumbent or for a candidate who has run several campaigns, but it is a challenge for candidates who are not independently wealthy and whose prior service has not been in politics. So your contribution will make a real difference.
